Projects Join Together for More ‘Offshore Wind Days’

After four successful events in Yarram, Traralgon, Foster and Seaspray in November, Gippsland’s offshore wind projects are back at four new locations in March.

Locals are invited to attend events in Port Albert, Golden Beach, Sale and Leongatha, to find out about the next steps of the proposed projects, see maps, share feedback and ask questions.

The Gippsland Offshore Wind Alliance said the events are an opportunity to learn more about offshore wind energy, upcoming project plans, long-term opportunities and to share feedback.

Led by Gippsland Climate Change Network and Committee for Gippsland, the Alliance aims to provide a local platform for collaborative action to create an offshore wind industry that benefits Gippsland.

Alliance Co-Chair, Tony Cantwell encouraged the Gippsland community to get involved.

“Offshore wind has the potential to drive positive outcomes for Gippsland, from jobs that benefit our communities to new opportunities for local businesses”, said Mr Cantwell.

“These sessions are a great way for residents and businesses to engage directly with developers and ask them questions about their proposed project locations, timeframes, as well as potential job and business opportunities”.

The following projects will be attending:

• Star of the South (Southerly Ten)

• Kut-Wut Brataualung (Southerly Ten)

• Great Eastern Offshore Wind (Corio)

• Gippsland Dawn (Bluefloat)

• Navigator North (Origin and RES)

• Gippsland Skies (AGL, Direct Infrastructure, Mainstream Renewable Power and Reventus Power)

• Gippsland 01 (Orsted)

• Gippsland 02 (Orsted)

• Aurora Green (Iberdrola)

• Blue Mackerel (Parkwind)

• Kent Offshore Wind (RWE)

Victorian Government agencies VicGrid and Offshore Wind Energy Victoria will also be attending to share information about transmission and energy planning.
