C4G Welcomes Investment Into Food And Fibre Manufacturing

Ahead of this week’s State Budget the Committee for Gippsland (C4G) has welcomed the State Government’s $10 million investment into the Morwell Manufacturing Precinct.

C4G CEO Jane Oakley said this investment will support Gippsland’s growing $7billion food, fibre and agricultural sectors while providing employment opportunities for locals.

“This investment is welcome news for the Latrobe Valley and broader Gippsland region and will have significant benefits to manufacturing and processing our world class GIppsland agricultural products locally.

“The Manufacturing Precinct will not only provide a boost to local producers but also help encourage and attract further investment into the region,” Ms Oakley said.

This year’s State Budget has allocated $10 million towards the Morwell Food Manufacturing Precinct to include construction upgrades, including connection to power, water and sewage as well as works to improve access for heavy vehicles and manufacturing equipment. “Construction and planning for this precinct will provide a long-term piece of infrastructure for our region in the short term and will support the creation of local jobs during construction and in the longer term with advanced manufacturing, the agriculture sector and during construction.

“Australians are keen to buy and support locally grown, produced and manufactured products and this Morwell Food Manufacturing Precinct will help more Australians support our farmers.

“The Morwell Food Manufacturing Precinct will showcase the capacity of our local agricultural industry and further drive advanced manufacturing in the Gippsland region,” Ms Oakley said.
