Jul 6, 2016

Securing an economic future for Gippsland and Latrobe Valley was a major report into carbon transitioning launched by former Federal Energy, Resources and Tourism Minister the Hon Martin Ferguson, AM. The launch was also attended by the Victorian Minister for Industry, Resources and Employment, the Hon Wade Noonan, Member for Morwell the Hon Russell Northe MP, and Federal Member for McMillan Russell Broadbent, MP.

Our Region Our Future has continued to be embraced and acknowledged by local, state and federal governments as the most up-to-date report into carbon transitioning providing a detailed overview of infrastructure projects and opportunities to ensure a positive future for Gippsland and Latrobe Valley.

The nearly 100 page report is the culmination of six months of work undertaken by the Committee for Gippsland, which included the input of over 200 small to medium businesses surveyed in the Latrobe Valley. Economic and employment modelling by consultancy GHD provided a snapshot of potential job losses to the region, and the economic impact to Gippsland and across Victoria. All up, nearly 300 Gippsland businesses and organisations have provided input to the report.
